I had a session a week and change ago when once again, the planets aligned and the little stars of the show were PERFECT! If you have ever photographed children or have had your children photographed, you know just how exhausting a session can be. There's preparations. Outfit picking, keeping black eyes to a minimum, hoping for a shower. Then there's the bribing. Promising the world if they give the photographer just ONE smile. Possible threats are tossed around. Nothing too serious, but if a smile won't be made, the child will most likely be grounded until they're 30. Then there's the session. There is always snacks and drinks on hand. Favorite toys. Anything to get that smile. There's chasing, crying, laughing, streaking.. all sorts of good stuff. And usually half way through, everybody involved is wondering if there will be any survivors. But it is always worth it. It's worth the stress. The tears. The preparation. Even if that golden smile never appears. Because even if there is no smile, there is always a true depiction of the child at that very moment. Some are headstrong, some are meek and mild, and some are just out-right crazy. But you can bet that's what will be captured on camera. And when that child is grown, those true pictures will be what brings back the memories. The ornery smiles, the shy serious face or even those tears.
