About Me; Your Sigourney, Iowa Photographer
I guess in true Alley form, I do things a little backwards. I *probably* should have started with this blog first, but I am only two deep so far, so I am going to chalk it up to pregnancy/baby brain. ;)
Anyways, to the thick of it. You are here because you want to know more about me, and hopefully I deliver (at least a short version of it for now)!
I am Alley Tish. My legal name is Alexandra, but you won't find me using that too often as it is usually mispronounced and misspelled. I was born and raised outside of a tiny town in Northwest Ohio (GO BUCKEYES)! Growing up there would be pretty comparable to rural Iowa, except WAY flatter and a few more stoplights. My senior year of high school, I met my husband (he was in his first year of college). After we had both graduated from college and were married, we decided to move back to Iowa to be closer to his family and the farm.
Our family of five live on a very small acreage just outside of Thornburg, Iowa. Together, my husband and I have three beautiful and unique girls. Ashtyn Marie (7), Abigail Grace (3) and Amelia Carolyn (4 weeks).
I am kind of selfish, somewhat organized, extremely sarcastic, and passionate. Most days you can find me either working on photography background work (hello scheduling, consults and editing), being extremely lazy and watching random nonsense TV shows until my eyes fall out of my head, or just hanging out with my family.
This is a good example of the true me:
And here is an example of the 'public' me:

I have been a photographer for a few years now. In my first professional year, I ran my business as Cherished Moments Photography. After investing a lot of time, research, blood, sweat and tears, I decided to take my business in a different direction. And Marie Grace Photography was born. The name comes from my oldest two girl's middle names. What will I do about the newest little nugget's name? Yeah, I am not sure yet. Check back in a few years. :) Some day I will delve into the growth of my business, but today is not that day.
Photography is a very personal business. Heck, any business is still personal. The phrase "business is just business" is a load of crap. It doesn't matter, it's still personal. In these last few years I have come to find just how personal this business is. I have laughed with clients in this business and I have cried at home with this business. It's the nature of the beast.
In this next year, I plan to show more of my true self with my work. Sarcasm and all. Once again, I am at the point where I realize I could either really make it in this business, or I am really going to tank. But I am choosing to follow my heart. And the risk is worth it.
So watch out world, I am coming for you!
