Ya'll asked for the rewind on blog posts, so here we go!

Going back to late summer when Iowa was mid-monsoon season, the Schmidt family all got together for an extended family shoot!

How often do we make up excuses to NOT do family photos? Want to lose those 25 pounds? You work all of the time? The kids (and men) won't like it? It's just too stressful..

Trust me, I feel you. I have used all of those excuses too. But I have been on the other side, too.

I wish I had more photos. Of grandparents. An uncle.

These moments.. we won't get them back.

Clients ask me. "Alley, how do we make it work?" And I honestly just tell them that they just have to book it. Just pick a date and go with it. If you never schedule it, it will never get done. Sure, you can schedule out a ways to make it possible for everyone, that's not a problem.

I had a handful of extended family sessions last year and I was tickled to do them for these families! I try to make these sessions as stress-free and efficient as possible, and as far as I know, everyone was pleased with the process while we were there!

Extended family sessions are not just for the one big picture! We leave plenty of time for individual families, too! We were a tad limited on what our posing options were for this shoot, thanks to the aforementioned monsoon. But we made it work!
