Sedivec Family; Maternity Pictures in Iowa City
Every once in a while you have to try something new. You just have to. Otherwise, you get stuck in the same rut. Doing the same thing. At the same place. Over and over again. So you branch out. You get out of your comfort zone. Out of your "norm." And you just try it. Sure, you may struggle a little (or maybe a lot), but more often than not, the outcome is worth it.
Generally speaking, when people see my work, one of the words that probably come to their minds is country. I LOVE the country. Open fields, flowers, trees.. You name, I love it. Oh, except for the bugs that come with the country. But ya know..
When Sydney booked Sedivec baby number two Grow With Me plan, I knew I was ready to try something new. And since maternity sessions are free for MGP mommas, I knew that it was time to try it. Of course, I discussed this with Sydney ahead of time. She had an AMAZING country maternity session with Hadley, so we felt safe branching out just a bit. So we made plans for a city maternity shoot. I had never done one before and she was up for it - so we scheduled it! We planned to meet in Iowa City and do her session there. Of course, being the country bumpkins that we BOTH are, we struggled with finding the right place, and getting to it, but we gave ourselves some grace. :) I had one of my very best photography friends (aka photography mom) meet me in Iowa City to do Sydney's shoot. Why not have a little fun with it?
We finally landed at the same place and we got right to work!
Of course, Hadley stole the show from the very beginning! She is ADORABLE!
So after the Hadley show (aka, family pictures), Sydney changed and we had even more fun!
We tried new things.. (except, ya know, the sun haze. Lord knows I can't give that up!)
I think Sydney looks like her momma here!
After the little black dress, we changed into a classic!
*Maroon gown from Sew Trendy Accessories. Despite the crowds and onlookers, the dresses that sometimes just won't cover everything they're supposed to, and the city smell, I think it was a success!
