Rory Turned Two and Riggs Turned One!
Going back a little while to when Rory turned TWO and Riggs turned ONE! I tell almost every single client that I work with that between the ages 1-4, you NEVER know what you're going to get. Toddlers and young kids are like little Jekylls and Hydes. You just never know who you will be greeted with. Especially when you add in the stress of getting pictures taken! For our first session, Rory decided that for his second birthday pictures, right from the start, that he was going to run the show. Momma and I both made multiple attempts to sway his decision otherwise, but he was head-strong (we will go ahead and just blame dad here ;) ) and was determined to not show me his smiles too many times. Even though we didn't capture as many smiles and bright eyes as we had hoped for, I still love these. I love the somber look Rory has sometimes. Or the very inquisitive eyes he has for nature and the outdoors! Sometimes if we just slow down and look at the world like a two year old does, we would be much happier, even without all of the smiles! (Be sure to keep scrolling to see Rigg's first birthday portraits, too!)
This first portrait from the session CRACKS ME UP! How can you not think that little face is adorable?!
He's trying awful hard not to smile at me!
Not going to lie.. those lashes make me crazy jealous!
Just a boy.. being a boy..
One of the moments we were practically doing back flips to get him to look at us. And he wasn't having any of it! But look at that little smile!
This one he was smiling at his momma! How precious is that?
Little fella trying to smile through it all!
As for Riggs, he was ready to ham it up for the camera for the pictures! The weather was questionable (because when has it NOT this late summer/fall) and we got sprinkled on just a little, but it still ended up being a perfect evening! We were able to capture a couple family photos for them all too!
I spy two SMILING boys! I call this sweet success!
BIG boys playing on BIG toys!
These boys sure know how to start their solo portraits! This is the first one from Rigg's and of course, I giggle at this one too!
I can't get over this one. What a little HAM!
Seriously.. Looking back through these.. His little crooked smile! He was trying SO hard!
Look at that little face!
Those eyes!
We came back to the studio for a little cake smashing for the boys! The cakes were adorable! Brandi from B's Sweet Treats (on the Sigourney square) did a great job! The backdrop was the same one they used for their actual birthday party!
Look at Riggs look at the cake! :D
I have had the pleasure to work with this family throughout the last two and a half years. We have worked together through lots of highs and even some lows. This little crew has a special spot in my heart! Thank you SO much for letting me be a part of your boys growing up, Dakota. It means more to me than you know!

Absolutely love my grandblessings, you did a great job capturing their personalities. Rory is a bit reserved while Riggs is more outgoing. Love them!!
